DOCX Editor
Edit Word documents without installing Word. Upload a .docx, and it is parsed locally in your browser into an editable document. Make your changes, then export a real .docx file back — the file never leaves your device.
- Client-side DOCX parsing (no upload)
- Real .docx export generated locally
- Full formatting toolbar while editing
- Also export to PDF, HTML, MD, TXT
Overview
Everything runs in your browser — your text is never uploaded.
How to use this tool
- 1Click "Upload DOCX" and choose a Word file from your device (or start typing in a blank document).
- 2Edit the content with the full formatting toolbar.
- 3Choose Download → DOCX to export a Word file, or another format if you prefer.
Examples
Fix a heading
Open a report .docx, restructure two headings and export the corrected file without touching desktop Word.
Strip macros and odd formatting
Re-exporting through WriteKit rebuilds the document from clean content — useful when a file arrives with broken styling.
Limitations
- Complex Word features — tracked changes, footnotes, comments, embedded images, precise pagination — may not be preserved perfectly.
- We never claim 100% compatibility: always spot-check the exported file for documents where layout is critical.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Word file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read by your browser with the File API and parsed locally. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.
Will all Word formatting be preserved?
Common formatting (headings, bold/italic, lists, tables) round-trips well, but advanced features such as tracked changes, comments or embedded media may be lost. Check exports for layout-critical documents.
What if my DOCX fails to open?
The file may be password-protected, corrupted or not a real .docx. You will see a clear error message — nothing is silently discarded.
